Who Needs Childcare Fingerprinting?

Anyone working with children in Arizona β€” professionally or through licensing β€” typically needs an IVP clearance. This includes:

  • Daycare center owners, directors, and staff
  • Home childcare providers (licensed DHS facilities)
  • Foster parents and household members 18+
  • Prospective adoptive parents (domestic and international)
  • Social workers and DCS caseworkers
  • After-school program staff working with minors
  • Group home and residential care facility workers

What Type of Fingerprinting Is Required?

Arizona DHS and DCS require IVP (Identity Verified Prints) Live Scan fingerprinting for most childcare and foster care roles. The IVP process uses digital, inkless capture β€” it's clean, fast, and submitted directly to DPS. Some international adoption agencies may require traditional ink prints on FD-258 cards as well.
